Achilles Tendinitis

Hello and welcome back to my blog. This post is for the second Action Project in the STEAM class, Cure. In this class we have learned about different kinds of treatments and medications. Because of the current global pandemic, we were not able to have someone come into the building and teach us about CPR. However, we were able to go through an online course that taught us about it and how to deal with emergency situations. In regular times we would be able to get CPR certified but that can wait for now. While learning about different medications, we talked about their functions and what each medication's designated purpose is such as pain relievers and how they interfere with pain messages sent to the brain so your body doesn't register pain in a certain area. For this project we had to create a patient with some illness or injury and develop a patient profile in a medical folder or other medium. This profile is shown below as if I were a doctor giving information to my patient...

Adjusting to the Afterlife

Welcome back to my blog. This post is for the second Action Project in the Humanities class, Drama. In this unit we continued to explore gender roles throughout history. We also read the play, A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen. Because the play takes place in Norway we looked at how women were treated and their place in society in Norway. We also observed what was going on with the rest of the world during that time period. Leading up to the Action Project, we studied the different components of plays which important to its function and acting it out. This included stage directions, script formatting and story explanations. Using what we learned we had to write a script for a one minute clip in a movie or TV show. I chose to use Obi-Wan Kenobi's confrontation with General Grievous in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Following this, we began working on our Action Project. This AP requires us to bring Nora, a character from A Doll's House, a woman represented on a place setting i...

Sonnets

Welcome or welcome back to my blog. This post is for the first Action Project of the Humanities class, Drama. In this class. we have been reading The Taming of The Shrew by William Shakespeare. We have also been learning about the iambic pentameter and Shakespeare's rhyme schemes. This unit focuses on the gender roles that are represented in the play and the 16th century. Like many Action Projects this year, there weren't any Field Experiences our class could experience but we might have a virtual tour of the Goodman Theatre. In the 16th century there were gender roles set for women. They were supposed to be obedient to men like their fathers or husbands. Women had to cook and clean and always be in service of her husband. There were some women who did not follow these expectations and were labeled as shrews. Kate, a character in The Taming of The Shrew is regarded as the shrew and needs to be tamed. Through the play Kate is married to a man named Petruchio and he attempts to t...
